First day of school

Have you started school yet?  It's funny how over the years we've started school differently.  Some years we start with a bang, meaning we hit it all at once full force usually the day after Labor day.  A few years we've sort of trickled into school, meaning we either start a "little" the week before and gradually add all the subjects in, or more likely we start after Labor Day with a trickle and get up to speed in a week or two.

This year we're having a slow start.  Tuesday was Taylor's birthday so he lobbied with the platform, "...can't start on my Birthday."  Being the nice Mom that I am and feeling not too much pressure this year I acquiesced.  We went to the free breakfast at Chik-fil-a instead (and hit free Crispy Creams on the way out.) Then today we ended up having some medical things we needed to take care of that took my attention so full school is planned to start Thursday.

Today I did have them each do a section of Language Arts.  All three of them are doing Total Language Plus study guides.  Taylor is doing Scarlet Pimpernel, Ariel The Hobbit and Lexie The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe.  They each finished their assigned one section including the dictation (which they sometimes try to avoid) even if I had to hold out the leftover birthday cake as a reward to get it done.

Tomorrow our plan is to get to Physics, Worldview, Math and Art.  It should be do-able if all goes well.  I still haven't figured out how I'm going to fit my work out into the day!

So how's your year going?  Hope it's off to a good start!
